Accrual Accounting

Is the application of all of the techniques that accountants use to apply the matching rule.  Accrual accounting records revenues and expenses in the periods in which they occur rather than in the periods in which they are received.  This is accomplished by 1. Recording revenues when they are earned, 2. Recording expenses when they are incurred, 3. Adjusting the accounts.
